Diag Drive Privacy Policy
Last updated: 23 October 2026
This policy explains what Diag Drive (“the app”, “we”) collects, why, and the choices you have. Contact us at privacy@motorlane.uk.
What stays on your phone
Your garage (vehicles, VIN, service history, reminders), chat history, OBD scanner readings and recordings are stored on your device. We don't upload them, except for the parts you include in a question to the AI assistant (see below).
What we collect
- Account details (optional): if you create an account, we store your email address and a securely hashed password, or the identifier Apple provides when you use Sign in with Apple. If you choose Apple’s “Hide My Email”, we only receive a relay address.
- Device identifier: a random ID created by the app so we can keep track of your AI credits. It is not your advertising ID.
- AI requests: the text, photos and audio recordings you send to the assistant, together with any vehicle details and live data you include. We pass them to Google’s Gemini API to generate an answer. We don’t keep them on our servers after the answer is returned, other than short-lived technical logs.
- Purchases: when you subscribe, the app sends us Apple’s signed purchase record so we can apply your plan. We never see your payment details.
- Usage counts: how many AI credits you have used and earned.
Advertising
Free users can watch optional rewarded ads from Unity Ads. Unity may collect device and usage data to show and measure ads. Ads are non-personalised unless you turn on personalised ads in Settings. See Unity’s privacy policy.
Third parties
- Google (Gemini API for AI answers)
- Unity (Unity Ads for optional rewarded ads)
- Apple (Sign in with Apple, App Store purchases)
- NHTSA vPIC (VIN decoding: only the VIN is sent)
We don’t sell your personal data and we don’t use it to track you across other companies’ apps.
Keeping and deleting your data
Account data is kept until you delete your account. You can delete it at any time in the app under Settings › Account › Delete account, which removes your account, credits and linked purchase records from our servers. Deleting the app removes the data stored on your phone.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct or delete it, or complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk). Email us at the address above.
Children
Diag Drive is not aimed at children under 13.
Changes
If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top of this page.
